The New Year is off to a busy but good start. I got a nice mention from the Chicago Tribune’s Resourceful Traveler (read the story here).

I’m about to hit the road again and am frantically going my list of things that need to get done. I’ll be on the road for three weeks, talking about travel along the Mississippi River, selling and signing books, and researching all the fun things to do in northern Minnesota in January.

I’m making my first trek to the headwaters of the river, but, unlike normal people who visit when you don’t need a parka and snowshoes, I’m going at the height of winter, to experience the headwaters in a very different way. I hope to go on a showshoe hike with a park ranger, and, if the sun cooperates, I might even get to see the Northern Lights in action. Then I’ll retreat to my cabin and warm up with a bowl of soup and a shot of brandy.

And I’ll continue to work on the website. There’s a lot of new stuff on the way and maybe even some actual blogging will occur again.

Happy 2011!
