Song of the Day: Amtrak Song

Christmas is coming, which means many of us are on the move, perhaps heading back home to visit family, or maybe out of town to get away from family. Whatever your reason for traveling, this one goes out to you, especially if you are getting around by train. Jeffrey C. Capps, formerly of The Central Standards (and another Iowa City-based musician that I happened across by chance), released Amtrak Song in 2009 on a CD called The Muddy and the Blue. While it’s not exactly a Christmas song, it is a good tune about being on the move.

Nice! Jeff (my great friend and musical partner/bandmate since 1991) wrote this song at least partly inspired by my train travels from Illinois back to Memphis, so I decided to make a video for it on one trip there with my son.

    Glad to see it shared!
