We haven’t had a new Mississippi River bridge at downtown St. Louis for a while (about 45 years), so it was a big deal when the new crossing had its grand opening last weekend. The official name is the Stan Musial Veteran’s Memorial Bridge, yet another catchy name that we can blame on legislative compromise. The smart money, though, is betting that “the Stan Span” is likely to catch on as the name everyone will actually use. So here’s a peak at the new bridge with a picture taken from what I expect to be the only time I’ll get to walk across it from one side to the other. (photo taken Feb 2014)
