I picked Down’s Ghosts Along the Mississippi in part because Halloween is coming up this week and the word “ghosts” is in the song title, and partly because, well, if you’re not used to listening to heavy metal, this song will likely scare the heck out of you. It’s really a straightforward song about fighting one’s own demons, something most of us can relate to, whatever our musical preferences, or demons. It was released in 2002 on the CD called Down II.
