We continue our tour along Iowa’s East Coast with a stop in Davenport at the Palmer Mansion. The home was the long-time residence of Mabel and B.J. Palmer (B.J. was the son of D.D. Palmer, the founder of the profession of chiropractic). The house looks normal enough from the outside, but once you start walking around, you’ll find plenty of eccentric touches like a room built to look like a circus tent and a chair made with real elephant feet, and you’ll also find some truly remarkable pieces, like the built-in pipe organ (that still works) and several examples of forbidden stitch embroidery.
