We lost another legendary musician last week with the death of Doc Watson. Arthel “Doc” Watson was born in North Carolina in 1923 but didn’t get much recognition until he was in his 40s when folks began to appreciate his fine pickin’. You can read more about him at Allmusic.com.
Watson’s version of Deep River Blues dates at least to 1964; he based it on the 1933 song I’ve Got the Deep River Blues by the Delmore Brothers.
